Our Journey
Years in the making
Sydney and Chris have spent years training and competing for this very moment.
Sydney started sailing at the age of 6, when her parents enrolled her in an Opti learn to sail camp. All it took was that first day, and she was hooked. At age 12, Sydney helped launch a sailing program in South Carolina, and started a team at her new high school where she raced the SAISA and C420 circuits. Sydney sailed for The George Washington University from 2019 - 2021, and after graduation, she continued sailing recreationally and coaching in the evenings. She joined Oakcliff Sailing for the Summer 2026 season, repairing and racing boats around the North East to Bermuda.
Chris started sailing at the age of 6, and has invested the past 3 years in developing his skills, building experience, and pursuing competitive excellence in the 470. Sailing in college, Chris earned All-American honors, and has numerous podium finishes at events across the country, including 2 national titles from his youth sailing. With his recent second place finish at the 470 National Championship earlier this year, Chris knows what it takes to be at the top of the fleet.
Sydney and Chris are ambitious, confident, and driven, with a clear path to the gold.
